Our Fifth Day

Svagatam!

Today Jay and Ms. Tiwari taught us how to say welcome in Telugu- Svagatam!

We read that school is a special place to learn from teachers and other students.

In our summer program, we can learn from students from all 4 elementary schools in Burlington- Francis Wyman, Fox Hill, Pine Glen,  and Memorial.

Our teacher, Ms. Tiwari, taught us about a way to make art that comes from India. She uses shapes and rice powder to show special family activities from India.

We learned that painting is a special activity she likes to do with her family!

Jay made a connection- his family is from India too and he celebrates Holi!

Kayena, Valeria, Saketh, Amelia and our special visitor, Ms. Simon shared their favorite family activities.

Ms. Simon also told us there will be a special Diwali celebration with tree lighting on the Burlington Town Common on October 15th!

We had a chance to make the same Indian art with shapes as Ms. Tiwari. We made pictures to teach the class about our special family activities.

Finally, we wrote about what makes our Burlington schools special- so many DIFFERENT students and families! We can learn from each other!
